Book talk & Indie read. Quickwrite #12: draw conclusions about the sequencing of yesterday’s notes on TV episode.  How can we use this to influence our own writing? Read: Donald Murray – “The Trail & The Sketch.” Quickwrite #13: connect two “poems.” Lab tomorrow for work on “connexion” paper.

Recap of this week’s writing assignment “Connexions.”  Think about what you want to write about.

Read:  Murray’s “Design, Genre, Structure.” Quickwrite #11:  “Map” out the sequencing or “moves” of a TV Episode (Breaking Bad S4:E5 “Shotgun”).  Be prepared to work with these notes in class tomorrow!

Book talk & Indie read. Quickwrite genre #10:  Define/show importance of as many of the physical characteristics on the board as you can in the time given.  Work in WRITE CLUB groups reading student papers and noticing content, organization, citations, etc.

Registration paperwork for English 102 SWIC credit.  Work time for your article commentary (you’ll need copies for tomorrow’s WRITE CLUB).

Info on Work Cited entries/page here: works-cited-examples-for-article-commentary-2017 (Just be sure this is correct before you submit your paper to Mrs. C – if it’s not there for WRITE CLUB, don’t panic.)

Create a password for SWIC email (and by default SWIC library services and Estorm itself).  You’ll need this later in the semester. Check the additional post about SWIC Email for more details.

SWIC Dual Credit Email Notice

If you are a dual credit English 8A student, please check out your SWIC email address and be sure to forward it to an email you actually check on occasion.

  1. Search Estorm
  2. Choose Student Email
  3. Look down the page for “What to I do if I forget my password?”
  4. Note the info on the default password
  5. Click the link for Office 365 at the top of the page
  6. Use the default password to log-in (it may prompt you to make a new password)
  7. Choose settings and search for “forward”
  8. Input the email address you want to forward to

If you have already set up an Estorm log-in, it will be your password.  If you set one up but forgot it, use the link provided at “What to do if I forget my password?” to reset it.

*Having a log-in is IMPORTANT because this same log-in password will be used for not just email, but also logging into SWIC’s library databases, which you WILL NEED later this semester to conduct research.
