Book talk & Indie read.  RLaW:  Can We Auto-Correct Humanity? – Prince EA (video:  Can We Auto-Correct Humanity? – Prince EA )

Hours 1 & 2 – SEARCH IT! notebook research assignment.  Read poems:  “When the Fat Girl Gets Skinny” by Blythe Baird & “Friend Zone” by Dylan Garity.  Quickwrite #3:  a 5 – 10 minute reaction/response on either poem we read (about a page – be specific and willing to refer to the text).

Upcoming:  Next week you will be writing a response based on one of the 6 pieces we read this week (two essay, two articles, two poems).

Deadlines:

  • Clean up our shared Dropbox folder by Friday 1/12.
  • Late homework bonus pass in exchange for Post-It Notes.  Bring them by next Tuesday 1/16.

Extra:  Essay “11:20” from Love and Other Ways of Dying by Michael Paterniti.  (read it & keep it)

English 8A – Monday, May 15th

Memory Book day!  indie read – last clipboard day.  Take with you – a wrap up of the year you spent in English 101/102.  Course surveys.

Tomorrow we’ll revisit our individual reading goals.

You should have hit all the deadlines.  The rest is up to me.  Just make sure to be here for a finals period to collect your memory books, notebooks, and any miscellaneous stuff.  (We’ll do something entertaining).

 

English 8A – Friday, May 12th

Lab Day!  Indie read.  Reminders about book turn in & library returns. Work on STUFF.

Deadlines:

  • Spring Portfolio in Dropbox by end of day 5/12 (today!)
  • Final version of your Memory book will be due IN CLASS on Monday 5/15 – NO EXCEPTIONS!

Upcoming:  Remember you’ll need to attend one final period either 1st, 3rd, or 7th.  Be there!
