Rhetoric & Comp – Friday, February 9th

Book trailers & Indie read.  Read/watch Hamlet Act III scenes 3 & 4, Act IV scenes 1 – 3.

With blood drive/field trip/etc. there will be a re-showing of Friday’s Hamlet scenes during 4th hour on Monday.  (For hours 1 & 2, it will put you a little out of order, but you’ll still get to see it at least.  And you can bring your lunch in if you need to.)

Deadline Extended:

  • Connexions paper by end of Thursday 2/15  (I want to get your first paper back before you submit this one with the same citation errors).

Rhetoric & Comp – Thursday, February 8th

Book talk & Indie read.  Read/watch: Hamlet  Act III scene 1.  Quickwrite #14:  Is Hamlet “mad”?  Why or why not?  Explain. (crazy-insane-mad, not angry-mad).

Book browse & Indie read.  Read/watch: Hamlet  Act II scene 2 & Act III scene 1.  Quickwrite #13:  To Be or Not To Be – retell the soliloquy in your own words.

Do you know what’s going on with the Prince of Denmark?  Re-read and/or review Hamlet as needed.

Submit SIUE Lovejoy Library Library writing contest entries! (I’ll still take them until Thursday morning!)

Book talk & Indie read.  Quickwrite #12:  Write a love letter to and from any teen tv character stereotypes.  Read/watch: Hamlet Act II scenes 1 & most of 2 (to the players).

Read aloud A Perfectly Messed Up Story by Patrick McDonnell.  Indie read.  Quickwrite #10:  YOUR Shakespeare experience/story.  Intro points for Hamlet & “translating” Shakespeare’s English.  Read/watch:  Hamlet act I scenes 1 & part of 2 (except in 1st hour – tech problems – we’ll catch up tomorrow).

  • SEARCH IT!  due Monday, February 5
  • SIUE contest entries to Mrs. C by Monday 2/5.

Book talk & Indie read.  WRITE CLUB.

To Do:  Take a new look at your connexions paper and make changes while your WC’s comments are still fresh in your mind.  Submit “teacher-ready” version of connexions paper no later than Sunday 2/11.  See submission sheet for details.
