Rhetoric & Comp – Friday, January 14th
Update your independent reading on the padlet (new code this semester & be sure you log in so you aren’t “anonymous”).
Quickwrite/Notebook #9: “How to Raise a Black Son in America” by Clint Smith (TED talk)* – 4 part notes & citations practice – special note about using timestamps when citing videos
Brief tour/reminders about Purdue’s OWL. Use it as a dependable reference when you don’t know how to cite something (link on the right).
ASSIGNMENT/DEADLINE: QW/NB #9 +1 – read an additional TED talk (video links & transcripts available on GClassroom) and complete your own 4 part notepage adding citations when needed + constructing a works cited entry due in your notebook no later than end of day Monday 1/17
*All the pieces we are reading and taking notes/practicing citing are building to the first paper we will write in a couple of weeks. They will become source options for the paper we’ll write, so don’t neglect them as unimportant.
