• Draft of your cited commentary & response by end of Tuesday, January 29 (in your WC Drafts folder).

1. Should I analyze one of these pieces we read? Is it like rhetorical analysis?
   • NO.  This paper should revolve around your thoughts, discoveries, and ideas surrounding the topic (not a particular piece).  Use pieces we read as sources as they are part of the conversation about your topic.
2. Do I need to cite things I use from sources?  Do I need a works cited page?
   • Yes & Yes.  First, that’s your responsibility as a writer.  Second, that’s part of the point of the assignment.  (You can use sources to show your exploration and to back up or even counter points YOU make.)  Use sources we read together, any extras I provided that work for you, and even add your own.
3. This feels chaotic and out of order…Am I doing it “right”?
   • It is normal to feel like this disrupts the research cycle you have been taught previously.  Real research writing process can be messy and might not follow a linear pathway.  There is no “right” way to the process.  It will be different for everyone.  Start to experiment and see what works for you.  Don’t be afraid to change your opinions, find additional sources, watch videos to collect timestamps, etc.  In other words, do the work.
4. What should my draft for WRITE CLUB look like?
   • A paper.  It should look like an MLA formatted paper with a title (not a label), and page numbers, and in-text citations for quotes, paraphrases, and summaries, and a works cited page that properly lists any sources you cite.
5. What should my draft for WRITE CLUB read like?
   • YOU.  It should read like having a scholarly conversation with you – one where you get to share your researched opinions, make valid points, and cite backup where needed.  Hopefully, you’ll use a blend of logos, pathos, and ethos that intrigues your readers and helps them think about your topic, too.

EVERYONE:  Check out the extra sources on today’s additional post.  Continue writing on your topic, integrating info. or points from the sources we read in class and perhaps adding your own. (Use what works, but it should be clear your ideas were sparked by the original readings that we used for quickwrites in class.)
