Book talk & Indie read. Dropbox folder updates – If you haven’t signed up and shared a folder, please do so today. Quickwrite #3 – your indelible moment. Thoughts on the inverse and symbiotic relationships of reading and writing. And start discussion – what is writing? (w/ notes & example piece).
Tomorrow: If you have signed up for SWIC, bring your ID #. If you haven’t yet applied, bring your SS# and we’ll sign up in class.

Book talk x 2. Notebook set-up – Writer’s Notebook & Reader’s Notebook (“the upside-down”). INITIAL NOTEBOOK SETUP Independent Reading (10 minutes) to establish reading rates (we’ll calculate them tomorrow).
Assignment: Complete the writing & reading surveys (half-sheets you added to your notebooks)!
Read something awesome.

Review of course syllabus and relevant information. Independent reading letter preview (sent home to parents), class library info, and booklove video.
Rhetoric & Comp & MC Lit & Rhetoric – Wednesday, August 16th
Welcome back! It was a great (if not a little sleepy) day one. Here’s what we did.
Intro to class, completed a reading survey, talked “mindset” & thought about how it might affect us individually, notebook preview, and wrote 6 Word Slogans for this year.
Keep your mindset square and your favorite 6 word slogan for your notebooks!

Grading update: Hour 7 grades are a done deal. Check yours in Skyward.
*Hour 2: Portfolio grades & Submission 5 scores soon to come – before 8 am tomorrow.
Have a fabulous Holiday Break! Read something “just because.”

As your final is the REQUIRED portfolio, bring something quiet to work on, read, etc.while you study for other exams. (I will also show a relevant film).
