  • Next paper for WRITE CLUB – either MB Chapter or QW expand – for Monday 10/16.  (In class “Lab” time this Thursday & Friday).
  • Skyward quiz open today through end of Monday 10/16.

Textbook Everything’s an Argument issued.  Take a look at Chapter 1 (and make some notes on your post-it for tomorrow).

Banned books week video (ALA.org) & Indie read w/ rate calculation. Compare with previous rate & consider the implications.  Update your “mission accomplished” page.  Set semester goals 1) quantity & 2) a non-quantity goal that pushes out of your “comfort zone.”  Crash Course w/ John Green – “How and Why We Read” Add #warriorsread shelfies to twitter 🙂

Tomorrow:  Work on your own college app essay – you may bring in a topic or write to any of the common app prompts #1 – 6.

Book talk & Indie read.  Quickwrite #12:  random picture.  College App Essay – it’s important!  Some tips for writing them + two example essays that got students accepted to Harvard & Stanford respectively.  Common App prompts* as possibilities (or you can bring your own topic in – one you are really writing).

*No choosing #7 for the assigned college app essay – you’ll need to write to a prompt.
