Rhetoric & Comp – Tuesday, November 6th

Student book talk & Indie read.  Quickwrite #20:sound -or- action.  Quick skim:  chapter 3 ethos.  Add post-its to a notebook page (appeals post-it notes) & add it to the notebook checklist.  Quickwrite #21: We Need Diverse Books – examine the ethos.  

Submission #2 assignment sheet & info.

Deadlines:

  • writer’s notebooks collected Friday 11/9 (make sure your notebook is here)
  • digital submission #2 due by end of Monday 11/12 (that means by 11:59pm)
  • student book talks – NOW thru Dec. 14th

Revisions:  You can work on optional revisions to submission #1 if you’d like.  Revise deeply, set up a time to meet with Mrs. C for 5 minutes, and reap the rewards of writing better papers.  (This option is unlimited as long as it is done & conferenced before the last two weeks of the semester).

Reminder:  Have you been completing quickwrite extras in your notebook?  Oct. 8, Oct. 15, & Oct. 22 since they were last collected.  Be sure to write something substantial, not just a sentence or two about what you did that day (it’s not a diary/journal).  If you want, use the 100 days slide deck, or Pinterest something, or use cartoons or memes to spark new ideas. Quotes from your reading can be inspirational, and so can lyrics from your favorite songs.  Play with genre.  Be original.
