Quickwrite #14: visual argument / magazine ad – check out an ad and think about what it’s argument is…how does it do that? …who is the audience?….
NOTES: Everything’s an Argument – Argument. Quick lecture to augment the notes you took already on Chapter 1.
UPCOMING: a look at rhetorical appeals (if you want textbook reference check out chapters 2, 3, & 4)

DEADLINE: Read and create a notepage for chapter 1 of our textbook Everything’s an Argument for class tomorrow 10/5. (This is listed as an assignment in GClassroom, is required in your writer’s notebook, and is available as a pdf with the assignment instructions).
UPCOMING: Rhetorical appeals (chapters 2, 3, & 4 of the text if you want to reference it).

Mrs. C’s 5 Word Revision: Reduce wordiness and elevate your writing through word choice. (You can find this slide on today’s GClasroom stream). Apply what you learn here to your two existing drafts.
PREVIEW: Monday’s assignment for Tuesday will be to read CH. 1 of the course textbook (this is required for the college coursework) and to create a notepage in your writer’s notebook with important points and info. (PDF available on GClassroom or ask Mrs. C for a real book if you’d prefer.)

WRITE CLUB!! Follow the Write Club procedures Bless, Address, & Press for each group memberâs paper. Be sure to give feedback through MSWord in the margins (not just in discussion) that looks for whatâs good = ), asks readerly questions ?, and makes suggestions in the form of âwhat ifâŠâ or âmaybe tryâŠâ
If you missed class, check the feedback your group members gave you and be sure to give them feedback too. (I put the workshop tips slides on GClassroom to help you).
And know it is always okay to go back and leave more comments later (within the next couple of days) if you need time to process or reread to give good commentary.
