Rhetoric & Comp (Eng 7A) – Tuesday, August 25th

Welcome!  Most of today’s details were on Google classroom, but start each class day by checking here for what’s up.

Here are your getting started tasks for today:

✅ Check out the syllabus (at the tab above if you didn’t pull it from Google classroom) – see what class will be about

✅ Take the survey from last week’s Classroom post (if you haven’t already)

✅ Explore this website (this will be homebase)

✅ Apply to SWIC. There’s a link on the website here.  Slides w/ directions are on Google classroom today (you’ll need your ss#). It will take 2 – 3 days to get your ID#. Once you have it, email it to Mrs. C.

* If you already have a SWIC ID# (you’ve taken DC already) email it to Mrs. C.

Expect more instructions on getting things going on Thurssday – and probably a real-time video meet via zoom or Google meets.

For a more detailed welcome, check out the letter linked below:

English 7A Welcome Letter Zoom Invite

Friday, August 21st

Students,

You’ve found the website! Take a look around. See what’s here.  Get comfy with the links here and ways you’ll use this site as HOME.

If you haven’t logged into the Google classroom (check your email for the invite), do so and take the intro/interest survey you find there to get us started.  Know that next week will be about set up, tech platforms, and just getting started – no high stakes.

I sent a parent email with the course syllabus, a class introduction, and a letter about independent reading (all that info can also be found on the website as well).  This weekend, I’ll post an intro video and next week there’s an optional zoom meeting for parents in case they have questions.

Check here on Monday for steps to getting started.  I’ll offer real-time class meetings next week on Wednesday & Thursday during your class block to offer you an overview and to provide you a checklist of what you’ll need to do to prepare for this semester.

Looking forward to getting back into a routine and getting to know you all.

2020 – 2021 SCHOOL YEAR

Wow!  It’s almost here.  I’m working on updating everything online, getting ready to make intro videos and excited to meet you all soon.  Moving classes online this semester will be different, but we’ll figure it out together.  Look forward to reading, writing, and thinking in new ways – where YOU make a lot of the choices.

It might take us a bit to get up to speed on all the tech, but once we are in a routine, let’s take the opportunity to build real community and make the best of this semester.  WE GOT THIS!

MULTI-CULTURAL LIT

Bring your NOTEBOOKS and whatever you are currently reading to the final.  IF you don’t need to attend the final (missed 4 days or less & have no discipline record), drop your NOTEBOOK off sometimes during finals (and any class library books that you aren’t reading over break).  ONLY drop off your notebook to Mrs. C (1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th hours for sure).

If you still need to work on your writing assignments (need computer access, you can come to the 1st period final to use chromebooks and finalize).

FINAL – We will be watching a video & quickwriting, reading a short text and annotating what you find, and answering reflective questions about your learning this semester.  If you aren’t required to take the final, but choose to, it won’t count if it lowers your grade.
